Quartz module. 3523 is the number engraved on the caseback of these watches, and Casio files its operation manual under it. 9 watches in the catalog run on it.

How to operate module 3523

Short steps in our words. The buttons are lettered as in Casio's operation guide, where each task's page is given.

Set the time and date

  1. In the Timekeeping Mode, press A: the seconds flash.
  2. Press C to step through the settings: seconds, hours, minutes, year, month, then day.
  3. On the seconds, press B to reset them to 00.
  4. On any other setting, press B to change it (hold for fast).
  5. To switch between 12-hour and 24-hour format, press D while the seconds flash.
  6. Press A to finish.

Good to know

Resetting the seconds between 30 and 59 adds one minute.

PM shows for p.m. times in 12-hour format.

The watch leaves the setting screen by itself after about two or three minutes without a button press.

Set an alarm

  1. In the Timekeeping Mode, press C: the Alarm Mode shows (AL).
  2. Press A: the hour digits flash.
  3. Press C to step through the settings: hours, minutes, month, then day.
  4. Press B to change the flashing setting (hold for fast; in 12-hour format, mind PM).
  5. Press A to finish. If the alarm indicator is not shown, press B until it shows (see below).
  6. Press C to go back to the Timekeeping Mode.

Good to know

With no month (-) and no day (--), the alarm sounds every day. Set a month only for every day of that month, a day only for that day every month, or both for one date.

In the Alarm Mode, each press of B steps through: both off, alarm only, hourly signal only, both on.

The alarm sounds for 20 seconds; press any button to stop it.

Light

  1. Press D to light the face.
  2. To have the light flash with the alarm, the timer and other beepers, hold B for at least two seconds in the Timekeeping Mode; do the same to switch it off. An indicator shows while it is on.

Good to know

The light does not come on while a beeper sounds, and it goes off if an alarm starts.

Frequent use of the light runs down the battery.

  6. Press C to go back to the Timekeeping Mode.

Good to know

It counts in 1/100 seconds for the first hour, then in seconds, up to 23 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds; after that it starts again from zero.
