Quartz module. 5434 is the number engraved on the caseback of these watches, and Casio files its operation manual under it. 1 watch in the catalog runs on it.

How to operate module 5434

Short steps in our words. The buttons are lettered as in Casio's operation guide, where each task's page is given.

Set the time and day

  1. Wait until the second hand reaches 12 o'clock, then pull the crown out to the second click.
  2. Turn the crown to set the time. Go four or five minutes past the time you want, then turn back to it.
  3. Push the crown back in.
  4. To set the day, pull the crown out to the first click, turn it to change the day, then push it back in.

Good to know

Mind a.m. or p.m. when you set the time.

The day indicator counts 31 days a month; correct it after shorter months.

Do not change the day between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m., or it may not change correctly at midnight.

Some models (100 m and 200 m water resistance) have a screw-in crown: unscrew it towards you before pulling it out and screw it fully back in afterwards; the watch is not water resistant while it is loose.

Zero the stopwatch hands

  1. If the stopwatch hands do not go back to 0 when you reset the stopwatch, pull the crown out to the second click.
  2. Press A to move the stopwatch second hand clockwise or B to move it counterclockwise until it is at 12 o'clock; the stopwatch minute hand moves with it.
  3. When the stopwatch second and minute hands are both at 12 o'clock, push the crown back in.
  4. Set the time again: the watch stops while the crown is out.

Good to know

Holding A or B moves the hand fast until you let go.

  3. For a split time, press B while it runs; press B again to release it.
  4. For two finishes: start with A, press B when the first finishes, A when the second finishes, then B to see the second time and B again to reset.

Good to know

It counts in seconds up to 29 minutes 59 seconds and stops by itself at 30 minutes.
