Casio module 5603

Solar powered module. 5603 is the number engraved on the caseback of these watches, and Casio files its operation manual under it. 6 watches in the catalog run on it.

How to operate module 5603

Short steps in our words. The buttons are lettered as in Casio's operation guide, where each task's page is given.

Set the time and date

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click: the second hand points to the Home City.
  2. Hold B for at least three seconds until the second hand moves to 12 o'clock, then turn the crown to set the hour and minute.
  3. Press B and turn the crown to set the tens digit of the year with the second hand; press B again and set the ones digit.
  4. Press B and turn the crown to set the month.
  5. Press B and turn the crown to set the day.
  6. Push the crown back in on a time signal at the top of a minute.

Good to know

Set the Home City first, or the time will be wrong after the next time signal.

The watch normally sets itself from a paired phone or a time signal; manual setting is for when neither is available.

Daylight saving time

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click.
  2. Press B: the mode hand points to the summer time setting of the Home City.
  3. Turn the crown to choose AT (switches automatically), STD (always standard time) or DST (always summer time).
  4. Push the crown back in.

Good to know

AT is the factory setting and usually needs no change.

Home City

  2. Turn the crown to pick another city or time zone.
  3. Push the crown back in.

Realign the hands

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click.
  2. Hold B for at least six seconds until the second hand reaches 12 o'clock for the second time, then let go: the main hands and the 24-hour hand align themselves.
  3. Press B, then B again, and check that the small hour, minute and 24-hour hands stop at 12 o'clock; if not, turn the crown to put them there.
  4. Press B and check that the mode hand stops at Su and the day sits in the middle of its window; if not, turn the crown to fix it.
  5. Press B and check that the day shows 1; if not, turn the crown until it does.
  6. Push the crown back in.

Good to know

Strong magnetism or a hard knock can knock the hands and day out of alignment.

Leaving the crown out for about 30 minutes cancels the procedure; push it in and start again.

Stopwatch

  1. Pull the crown out and press A to switch to the Stopwatch Mode.
  2. Push the crown back in.
  3. Press A to start and A again to stop; A resumes.

The mode hand points to ST while the stopwatch is running.
