Casio module 5604

Solar powered module. 5604 is the number engraved on the caseback of these watches, and Casio files its operation manual under it. 3 watches in the catalog run on it.

How to operate module 5604

Short steps in our words. The buttons are lettered as in Casio's operation guide, where each task's page is given.

Set the time and day

  1. In the Calendar Mode, pull the crown out to the second click. The second hand moves to 12 o'clock and the hour and minutes can be set.
  2. Turn the crown to set the hour and minutes, checking that the 24-hour hand points to the a.m. (right) or p.m. (left) side as you want.
  3. Press A and turn the crown to put the second hand on the tens digit of the year.
  4. Press A and turn the crown to put the second hand on the ones digit of the year.
  5. Press A and turn the crown to set the month with the second hand.
  6. Press A: the second hand moves to 12 o'clock and the function hand moves slightly. Turn the crown to set the day.
  7. Push the crown back in on a time signal at the top of a minute.

Good to know

With a phone paired in CASIO WATCHES, the watch sets its time by itself around 12:30 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Setting it by hand is for when you do not use a phone.

To set it from the phone now, in the Calendar Mode hold B for at least 0.5 seconds and let go as soon as the second hand points to R; once connected the time is set.

After setting the time by hand, auto time adjustment does not work for 24 hours. Changing the time by hand on the watch also cancels the automatic switching between standard time and summer time.

Each press of A moves to the next item: hour and minutes, tens of years, years, month, day, then back to the hour and minutes.

Turning the crown quickly starts fast forward or reverse; turn it the other way or press any button to stop.

If you do nothing for about two minutes after pulling the crown out, the crown stops working; push it in and pull it out again.

Changing the day makes the function hand move several times.

Always push the crown back in to its normal position afterwards to keep the watch water resistant.

From Casio's guide, page 6

Summer time

  1. On the phone, open CASIO WATCHES.
  2. In the Calendar Mode, hold B for at least two seconds until the second hand points to R twice; the watch connects to the phone.
  3. In the app, change the Home City summer time setting: Auto, OFF (always standard time) or ON (always summer time).

Good to know

The Home City summer time can be changed only in the app, not on the watch.

With Auto, the watch switches between standard time and summer time by itself after it connects to the phone.

From Casio's guide, page 9

Dual Time

  1. In the Calendar Mode, pull the crown out to the first click. The second hand moves to 12 o'clock and the function hand to DT.
  2. Turn the crown to set the Dual Time on the small hands, in 15-minute steps; the small 24-hour hand points to the A side for a.m. and the P side for p.m.
  3. Push the crown back in.

Good to know

There is no Home City picker on the watch; the small hands show the Dual Time.

In CASIO WATCHES you can pick a World Time city (about 300) for the small hands instead, and swap the Home Time and the World Time; after a swap, auto time adjustment does not work for 24 hours.

Travelling: before you leave, set the World Time city in the app to your destination and turn off auto time adjustment; when you arrive, swap it with the Home Time in the app, turn auto time adjustment back on and connect to set the time.

Set the alarm

  1. In the Calendar Mode, pull the crown out to the first click. The second hand moves to 12 o'clock and the function hand to DT.
  2. Press A: the function hand moves to ALM and the alarm switches on.
  3. Turn the crown to set the alarm time on the small hands; check that the small 24-hour hand points to the a.m. or p.m. side you want.
  4. Push the crown back in.

Good to know

The alarm sounds for 10 seconds every day at the set time; press any button to stop it. It does not sound while the crown is pulled out to the second click, when the battery is low or in Level 2 power saving.

To switch it off: pull the crown out to the first click, press A, press B so the second hand points to OFF (each press switches between ON and OFF), then push the crown back in.

The alarm can also be set in the CASIO WATCHES app.

Hand and day alignment

  1. In the Calendar Mode, pull the crown out to the second click. The second hand moves to 12 o'clock.
  2. Hold B for at least five seconds and let go when the watch beeps; the second hand makes one full turn.
  3. If the second hand is not at 12 o'clock, turn the crown to put it there.
  4. Press B. If the hour, minute and 24-hour hands are not at 12 o'clock, turn the crown to put them there.
  5. Press B. If the small hour, small minute and small 24-hour hands are not at 12 o'clock, turn the crown to put them there.
  6. Press B. If the function hand is not at 12 o'clock or the day is not centred in its window, turn the crown to correct them. If both are right now, go to the last step.
  7. Only if you could not get them right: press B, and if the day does not show 1, turn the crown until it does, bringing the function hand to 12 o'clock.
  8. Push the crown back in.

Good to know

Strong magnetism or impact can put the hands or day out of alignment.

The function hand can be moved only up to 180 degrees either way here; the day moves only a little. Changing the day may make the function hand turn for about 20 minutes.

If the crown is left out for about 30 minutes without operation, the procedure stops; push it in and start again. Pushing the crown in part way through keeps the alignment done so far.

Hand and day alignment can also be done in the CASIO WATCHES app.

Stopwatch

  1. In the Calendar Mode, press A: the watch enters the Stopwatch Mode and starts timing at once.
  2. Press A to stop, A to carry on, and A again to stop.
  3. When it is stopped, press B to reset it to zero.
  4. Lap times: while it runs, press B at the end of each lap; the lap time shows for about 10 seconds and timing of the next lap goes on. Press A to stop.
  5. To go back to the Calendar Mode, reset it to zero and press B.

Good to know

It counts in 1-second steps up to 23 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds on the second hand and the small hands.

During lap timing, from the second lap the function hand shows how much faster or slower the current lap is than the one before.

Holding A for at least two seconds in the Stopwatch Mode also goes back to the Calendar Mode.

Lap times (up to 200) can be sent to the phone and viewed in CASIO WATCHES: hold B for at least two seconds until the second hand points to R twice.

Direct Start with A does not work while the watch is connected to another device by Bluetooth.

From Casio's guide, page 11

Reset the watch

  1. In the Calendar Mode, pull the crown out to the second click. The second hand moves to 12 o'clock.
  2. Hold A for at least 10 seconds, until the second hand makes one full turn.
  3. Push the crown back in.

Good to know

This puts the watch settings, the stopwatch and the alarm back to their factory defaults.

It also deletes the pairing with the phone; pair the watch again in CASIO WATCHES afterwards.
