Casio module 5659

Solar powered module. 5659 is the number engraved on the caseback of these watches, and Casio files its operation manual under it. 1 watch in the catalog runs on it.

How to operate module 5659

Short steps in our words. The buttons are lettered as in Casio's operation guide, where each task's page is given.

Set the time and date

  1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold A for at least two seconds and let go when the Home City name shows (SET shows first). The hands move out of the way of the display.
  2. Press C until the setting you want flashes. The order is: Home City, summer time, seconds, hours, minutes, year, month, day, 12/24-hour format, day of the week language, button tone, light duration, auto time adjustment, power saving, then back to the Home City.
  3. On the seconds, press D to reset them to 00.
  4. On the other settings, press B or D to change them.
  5. Press A to finish.

Good to know

With a phone paired in CASIO WATCHES, the watch connects and sets its time by itself around 12:30 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. To set it now, keep the phone within one meter and press D in the Timekeeping Mode: TIME flashes, then OK shows and the time is set.

Set the time on the watch only when it cannot connect with a phone. After setting the time by hand, or after a swap of the Home Time and World Time, auto time adjustment does not work for 24 hours.

Resetting the seconds while they count 30 to 59 adds one minute.

12/24-hour format: hold A until the Home City shows, press C eight times (12H or 24H flashes), press D to switch, then press A.

In any mode, hold C for at least one second to go back to the Timekeeping Mode.

From Casio's guide, page 16

Summer time

  1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold A for at least two seconds and let go when the Home City name shows.
  2. Press C: the summer time setting flashes.
  3. Press D to step through AUTO (switches between standard time and summer time by itself), OFF (always standard time) and ON (always summer time).
  4. Press A to finish.

Good to know

Every city is set to AUTO at the factory, which in many cases needs no change.

With a phone connected (hold C for at least three seconds and let go when CNCT starts to flash), the Home City summer time can also be changed in CASIO WATCHES.

For the World Time city: in the World Time Mode, press D to show the city, hold A for at least two seconds until the summer time setting flashes, press D to pick AUTO, OFF or ON, then press A. This cannot be done while UTC is picked.

If the time is off by one hour or 30 minutes, the summer time setting may be wrong.

From Casio's guide, page 16

Home City

  1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold A for at least two seconds and let go when the Home City name shows.
  2. Press B or D until your city shows.
  3. Press C: the summer time setting flashes; press D to change it if needed.
  4. Press A to finish.

Good to know

The cities and their time offsets are in the City Table in the manual.

To swap the Home City time and the World Time, press A and B at the same time in the World Time Mode. This can also be done in CASIO WATCHES; auto time adjustment then does not work for 24 hours.

CASIO WATCHES can set the World Time city from about 300 cities. Picking a different city on the watch afterwards deletes the app's city from the watch.

  1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold A for at least five seconds and let go when 0:00 flashes (H.SET shows after about 3.5 seconds). The hour and minute hands move to 12 o'clock.
  2. If the hour and minute hands are not at 12 o'clock, press B or D to put them there.
  3. Press A to leave the setting screen.

  5. Hold C for at least one second to go back to the Timekeeping Mode.
