How to operate module 5696

Short steps in our words. The buttons are lettered as in Casio's operation guide, where each task's page is given.

Set the time and date

  1. In the Timekeeping Mode, hold A for at least two seconds: the seconds flash.
  2. Press A to step through the settings: seconds, hour, minute, then 12H/24H.
  3. On the seconds, press B to reset them to 00.
  4. On the hour or minute, press B to count up (hold for fast); mind the P indicator for p.m.
  5. On 12H/24H, press B to switch between 12-hour and 24-hour format.
  6. Press A once more: the flashing stops and the Timekeeping Mode shows.
  7. For the date, press B once to open the Date Mode, then hold A for at least two seconds: the month flashes.
  8. Press A to step through month, day and day of the week, and press B to change each one (hold for fast).
  9. Press A after the day of the week to stop the flashing.
  10. Press B until the Timekeeping Mode shows again, after the Alarm, Dual Time and Stopwatch Modes.

Good to know

Resetting the seconds while they count 30 to 59 adds one minute.

The hands keep their own time, apart from the digital display; set them with C in any mode.

There is no year setting: the calendar handles months of different lengths, and the date only needs changing for leap years or after a battery change.

The watch goes back to the Timekeeping Mode by itself if no button is pressed for one or two minutes.
