Casio module 5701

Solar powered module. 5701 is the number engraved on the caseback of these watches, and Casio files its operation manual under it. 5 watches in the catalog run on it.

How to operate module 5701

Short steps in our words. The buttons are lettered as in Casio's operation guide, where each task's page is given.

Set the time and date

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click: the second hand moves to the code of the Home City.
  2. Hold B for at least three seconds, until the second hand moves to 12 o'clock.
  3. Turn the crown to set the hour and minutes.
  4. Press B, then turn the crown until the second hand points at the tens digit of the year.
  5. Press B, then turn the crown until the second hand points at the ones digit of the year.
  6. Press B, then turn the crown until the second hand points at the month.
  7. Press B: the mode hand moves slightly. Turn the crown to set the day in the day window.
  8. Push the crown back in exactly at the top of a minute, using a time signal.

Good to know

Set the Home City first: with the wrong city the time comes out wrong after the next time signal adjustment.

Normally you do not need this: the watch sets itself from a paired phone with the CASIO WATCHES app or from a radio time signal.

Daylight saving time

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click.
  2. Press B: the mode hand points at the summer time setting.
  3. Turn the crown to choose AT (AUTO), STD (always standard time) or DST (always summer time).
  4. Push the crown back in.

Good to know

AT (AUTO), the factory setting, switches by itself; for a city picked by its UTC offset only, use STD or DST.

If the time is off by one hour or 30 minutes, the summer time setting may be wrong.

Home City

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click: the second hand points at the code of the current Home City.
  2. Turn the crown until the second hand points at your city.
  3. Push the crown back in.

Good to know

A time zone with no city name on the face is chosen by the second hand position for its UTC offset, as listed in the City Table.

Realign the hands

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click.
  2. Hold B for at least six seconds, until the second hand points at 12 o'clock for the second time, then let go: the hands align themselves.
  3. Press B: the hour, minute, second and 24-hour hands move to the 11-minute position.
  4. Press B, check that the small hour, small minute and small 24-hour hands are at 12 o'clock, and if not turn the crown to put them there.
  5. Press B, check that the mode hand is at ST and the day sits in the middle of its window; if not, turn the crown to move them there.
  6. If you could not get them right, press B and turn the crown until the day window shows 1, with the mode hand at ST.
  7. Push the crown back in.

Good to know

If the 24-hour hand is near 14:00 once the hands reach the 11-minute position, hold A until the hands move and check that it stops near 02:00.

Leaving the crown out for about 30 minutes cancels the procedure; push it in and start again.

From Casio's guide, page 24

Stopwatch

  1. Pull out the crown, press A to switch from the World Time Mode to the Stopwatch Mode, then push the crown back in.
  2. Press A to start, A to stop, and A again to carry on.
  3. When it is stopped, press B to reset it to zero.

Good to know

It measures up to 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds, in one-second steps.

Pulling out the crown while it runs resets it to zero.
