Casio module 5728

Solar powered module. 5728 is the number engraved on the caseback of these watches, and Casio files its operation manual under it. 2 watches in the catalog run on it.

How to operate module 5728

Short steps in our words. The buttons are lettered as in Casio's operation guide, where each task's page is given.

Set the time and day

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click. The second hand shows a.m. or p.m.: the 3-second position is a.m., the 57-second position p.m.
  2. Turn the crown to set the hour and minutes, checking that the second hand shows a.m. or p.m. as you want.
  3. Press A and turn the crown to put the second hand on the tens digit of the year.
  4. Press A and turn the crown to put the second hand on the ones digit of the year.
  5. Press A and turn the crown to set the month with the second hand.
  6. Press A and turn the crown to set the day.
  7. Push the crown back in on a time signal at the top of a minute.

Good to know

Set this by hand only when the watch can neither connect to a phone nor receive a time signal. Select your Home City time zone first, or the time will be wrong after it is set from a time signal.

While setting the day, press A to go back to the hour and minutes.

Turning the crown quickly at the second click starts fast forward or reverse of the hour and minute hands; turn it the other way or press any button to stop. The second hand cannot be moved fast.

If you do nothing for about two minutes after pulling the crown out, the crown stops working; push it in and pull it out again.

With a phone paired in CASIO WATCHES, the watch connects and sets its time by itself around 12:30 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. To set it now, hold A for at least 0.5 seconds and let go as soon as the second hand points to C.

The watch also sets itself from a time signal between midnight and 5:00 a.m. if it could not connect to a phone during the previous day. To receive it now (only possible while the watch is not paired with a phone), hold A for at least 0.5 seconds until the second hand points to RC; keep it near a window. It takes about two to 10 minutes, up to 20.

After setting the time by hand, auto time correction does not work for 24 hours.

Press A to see the last result: the second hand points to Y (YES) or N (NO) for nine or ten seconds. After setting the time or day by hand it points to N.

Always push the crown back in afterwards to keep the watch water resistant.

Summer time

  1. Pull the crown out to the first click. The second hand points to the current Home City time zone.
  2. Press A: the second hand moves to the current summer time setting.
  3. Turn the crown to pick AT (automatic), STD (always standard time) or DST (always summer time).
  4. Push the crown back in.

Good to know

The factory setting is AT for all cities. For a time zone with no city name on the face, use STD or DST.

If your local summer time dates have changed, connecting to the phone sends the new data to the watch; without a phone, set STD or DST by hand.

The summer time setting can also be changed in the CASIO WATCHES app (hold A for at least 2.5 seconds until the second hand points to C to connect).

If the time is off by one hour or 30 minutes, the summer time setting may be wrong.

Home City time zone

  1. Pull the crown out to the first click. The second hand moves to the city code of the current Home City.
  2. Turn the crown to pick your time zone with the second hand.
  3. Push the crown back in.

Good to know

The City Table on page 17 gives the second hand position for each UTC offset, for example 2 for London, 22 for Tokyo, 50 for New York; zones without a city name on the face can be picked too.

Set the time zone where you use the watch, or the time will be wrong after it is set from a time signal.

If the time is off by several hours, the Home City may be wrong.

Hand and day alignment

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click.
  2. Hold A for at least five seconds and let go when the second hand reaches 12 o'clock. The hour, minute and second hands align by themselves.
  3. Press A and check that the day shows 1.
  4. If it does not show 1, turn the crown until it does.
  5. Push the crown back in.

Good to know

Strong magnetism or impact can put the hands or day out of alignment.

If the crown is left out for about 30 minutes without operation, the procedure stops; push it in and start again. Pushing the crown in part way through keeps the alignment done so far.

Hand and day alignment can also be done in the CASIO WATCHES app.
